Join the authors of Vanishing Boathouses of Colonial Beach for a book signing. Writer Diane Doumas and photographer Karie Anderson will be on hand to sign copies of their book.

Boathouses are vanishing in the Northern Neck of Virginia, an area steeped in early American history. Once lining the creeks and bays of the lower Potomac River along with oystermen and steamships, boathouses are now few and far between with more disappearing every year. A result of regulations designed to restore and preserve the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, these structures can no longer be constructed or restored. Before traditional boathouses become relics of the past, a selection of these charming and historic landmarks have been preserved in Vanishing Boathouses of Colonial Beach, in a collection of stunning photographs, accompanied by owner anecdotes and the history of the area.
